Zain Al Rafeea is an actor, known for Capharnaüm (2018). Zain was a Syrian refugee when he was discovered in the streets of Beirut by director Nadine Labaki. At the time, his life shared similarities with that of his character of the same name. He and his family have since been resettled in Norway.
Zain Ashar, is a multi cultural and multilingual, born and raised in Oslo, Norway, to Naila Firdos and Hussnain Ashar Syed, CEO of Fine Distribution AS. Growing up Ashar was taught 4 languages, Urdu, Punjabi, Arabic and Norwegian. He was also exposed to different religions and cultures as he was a part of the minority. Ashar spent the first 5 school years attending Norwegian public schools, and from 6th grade he began studying at Oslo International School, where he became fluent in English and graduated from high school with an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Ashar first got the opportunity to act in high school, and since then it became a passion for Ashar. The first theatrical performance Ashar was a part of was "Children of Killers" the cast was invited to perform at the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh in 2011. Ashar participated in every theatrical piece until he graduated from high school. After graduating Ashar did not think he would ever be able to act again, and so he enlisted himself in the Norwegian Army. After serving his country Ashar's family wanted him to follow his passion and realize his dream of acting. While waiting to make the big move from Norway to the States, Ashar worked as a substitute teacher and a security guard in Norway for half a year until he made the big decision. Ashar moved to Los Angeles in 2015 and got his BFA degree in Acting. Ashar acquired many skills, and one in particular "Comedy Improv", Ashar became a part of an Improv Troupe in early 2017 and was a member till late 2019. Since late 2019 Ashar is based in Norway, pursuing his acting career as well as serving the Norwegian Home Guard's QRF (Quick Response Force), known as DERBY.
