From his debut role in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises," to portraying the true story of a young Miami-based artist killed by police, Puerto Rican-American actor Tyler Dean Flores has proved that from blockbuster hits to gritty indie darlings, he can do it all. This year, Tyler will star as Israel "Reefa" Hernandez in Vertical Entertainment's upcoming drama "Reefa." Inspired by a true story, the film follows the 18-year-old Colombian immigrant and artist during his last summer in Miami, before tragically being murdered by Miami Beach cops in 2013. His infamous story left the local community outraged, and the country reeling from another case of police brutality. The film is set to release in theaters and digital on Friday, April 16, 2021 and streaming on HBO Max in the coming months. Additional film credits for Tyler include the 2019 drama "Already Gone," executive produced by Keanu Reeves, the upcoming mob-drama "The Birthday Cake," with Ewan McGregor ("Doctor Sleep") and upcoming slasher "18 & Over" with Ashley Benson ("Spring Breakers.") On the television front, Tyler can currently be seen in Marvel's newest series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier." The six-episode miniseries, which stars Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes) and Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson) as a mismatched duo who team up for a global adventure, continues to follow the intricate world of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). The series first premiered on March 19, 2021, on Disney+ and continues to release new episodes weekly. Additional television credits for Tyler include Netflix's award-winning series "When They See Us," and NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." Born and raised in Harlem, New York, Tyler discovered his passion for acting at an early age. What began as a modeling career as a pre-teen for hopes of supporting his family eventually turned into an illustrious acting career. When the opportunity to self-tape for Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" came up, Tyler and his acting coach filmed against a Harlem hallway. The raw footage immediately impressed producers and Tyler went on to book the role of Mark just days after his eighth grade graduation. Following the film's debut, Tyler spent some time away from the industry, before deciding to pursue acting full time again in 2016. When he isn't on set, Tyler can be found biking around the city, making music for fun, practicing his Spanish, or eating a sandwich at the corner store with his friends. He currently resides in Harlem, New York.
Born and raised in Windsor, Connecticut, Tyler grew up being the sole artist in a family of four. Whether it was through drawing, making noises or dressing up, expressing himself creatively was a necessity. The acting bug undoubtedly came from his father whom at an early age gave him access to all the great films of the 1960's to early 90's. Scarface at the age of five had quite the impact. Growing up for Tyler wasn't all comic books and imagination either. He learned how to correctly handle a fire arm and developed an enthusiasm for fitness, specifically weight training but more importantly as he'd figure out later on, boxing. Tyler began his career as an actor on the stage playing mostly rebellious young men looking for love. He learned his craft first through the Meisner technique and since built it up with some of the best acting teachers in Los Angeles, including Anthony Meindl, Michael Woolson and Craig Wallace. Tyler can recently be seen in his directorial debut, A Night at Cagney's for which he was nominated for Best Screenwriting and took home the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. The ceremony was held at the Directors Guild of America. In the coming year, Tyler will be featured in three independent feature films. Among them are, The Long Way, Rosie Colored Glasses and the sci-fi thriller, Proximity. Later next year, Tyler will be traveling overseas to begin production on his first horror feature, while also hoping to begin production on his first feature film that he wrote entitled Seymour.
Tyler DiChiara was born and raised in Staten Island. While still in high school, Tyler landed a leading role of Kai, a trans male, in the Independent Feature Film "Relish."
