With a career in entertainment that spans over two decades, Scott Montoya's primary focus began producing stand-up comedy shows for broadcast and eventually evolved into managing and producing comedy talent having been involved with the careers of over 25 comedians. Montoya's first production as sole producer was Paramount Pictures hit; The Original Latin Kings of Comedy (2002). In 2005, Montoya returned to his producing roots and added directing to his repertoire and has directed, produced, edited and mixed 80 + stand-up comedy specials that have premiered on Network Broadcast (Showtime, Comedy Central, Netflix) and in all media. In 2009, Montoya established The Laugh Out Loud Comedy Festival where Laugh Out Loud Comedy Inc. (LOL Comedy, Inc.) was created and Laugh Out Loud Flix (lolflix(TM)), an online originally produced stand-up comedy distribution platform was eventually born. Now in its 8th year the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Festival has grown into a multi-stage, nationally recognized festival, featuring hundreds of live acts filmed and produced for Broadcast that have premiered over 250 headline comedians on the Showtime Networks alone. The evolution from producing and directing niche English Speaking Latino market themed stand-up comedy shows has lead to Montoya developing a more broad based original mainstream stand-up comedy repertoire as director/producer. Specials such as last year's Grammy nominated Happy. And A lot. with Jay Mohr to the return of Andrew Dice Clay in his first special in 17 years, Indestructible along with Dice's follow up Andrew Dice Clay Presents The Blue Show to Joan Rivers final stand-up comedy special Don't Start With Me. Other specials include, Brad Williams first comedy special, Fun Size (the highest rated special on Showtime for 2015) and Brads follow up Daddy Issues. Other recent specials include GSN's Idiot Test host and comedian Ben Gleib: Neurotic Gangster, Kirk Fox: That Guy, Bobcat Goldthwait: You Don't Look The Same Either, Snoop Dogg Presents the Bad Girls of Comedy, Jay Mohr: Funny For A Girl, Tommy Chong Comedy at 420, Anthony Clark: Ambiguous, Bill Bellamy: Crazy Sexy Dirty, and Ladies Night Out just to name a few, all having premiered on the Showtime Networks. Although mainstream cross over has been a goal, Scott has not stopped producing Latino themed English language stand-up comedy specials having also directed and produced; Felipe Esparza's (winner of Last Comic Standing) first comedy special after his win titled They're Not Going To Laugh At You, Latin King of Comedy, Alex Reymundo's two specials Hick-panic and Red-Nexican, Willie Barcena's first and second specials, Deal With It and I Gotta Be Honest, Steve Trevino's first special Grandpa Joe s Son, Monique Marvez's first special Not Skinny Not Blonde, The 3 Non Juan's starring; Johnny Sanchez, Al Madrigal and Carlos Alazraqui, The American Indian Comedy Slam, and the follow up to the Latin Kings of Comedy; The Original Latin Divas of Comedy and The Payaso Comedy Slam, as well as two series; Comics Without Borders (9 episodes) and The Laugh Out Loud Comedy Festival Series (13 episode) all having premiered on the Showtime Networks. In 2013 Montoya established Laugh Out Loud Flix (lolflix(TM)) an online streaming service that distributes LOL Comedy Inc, original stand-up comedy films. lolflix(TM) offers video streaming through various options such as ADVOD, VOD and SVOD through its platform as well as its mobile app; lolflix(TM). Scott has continued to create award winning series and specials for Showtime, HBO, Comedy Central, ABC, NBC, Telemundo and FOX having won an ALMA award for Latin Kings Of Comedy, Alex Reymundo's debut comedy special Hick-Spanic and nominated for a 2016 Grammy for Jay Mohr's "Happy. And A Lot".
Scott spent 25 years as a working cowboy and guide throughout the western US. He has also been a raft guide, ski lift mechanic, ski instructor, and carpenter. Scott is also a historian and educator, spending several years as a professor. He is comfortable using weaponry including firearms, swords, knives, tomahawks, and archery equipment.
