His father, who worked as an artist, had Serbian and Hungarian ancestry, while his mother's family was from Belgium. Sasha spent the first two years of his life living in Mullumbimby, New South Wales, until his mother left his father and eventually moved to the Gold Coast, Queensland, along with his younger brother Jamie. There Sasha attended primary and high school. After finishing grade ten, Sasha went to Japan to spend a year studying at high school and learned to speak the Japanese language fluently. He returned to Australia and started studying fitness which led him to work as a personal trainer for seven years. After having worked in several different industries, Sasha realized his passion lay in acting and decided to start pursuing a career in film and television.
