Actress Sarah José was born and raised in Southern California, the daughter of a South American neurologist, and a former nurse. It was by happenstance that Sarah came to act. She was in Ballet class when she was asked to audition for her first theatre play. After performing in a handful of stage plays and musicals, Sarah auditioned for Joanne DeNaut, CSA at South Coast Repertory and was admitted to their summer company intensive. She was considering the idea of "doing movies" when she arrived to the set of Divos! (2020) and was offered the role of Tina Hernandez. She said yes.
Sarah Joy Brown won three Emmy Awards before her twenty-fifth birthday. She began her acting career at the prestigious Los Angeles County High School for the Performing Arts and graduated from both LACHSA's Theatre Department and Alexander Hamilton's Academy of Music. Sarah's professional acting career was launched on her nineteenth birthday when she was selected as the series lead on the hugely popular children's series V.R. Troopers which aired in more than thirty countries around the world. Two years later, Sarah won the lead role of Carly Corinthos on the iconic ABC daytime series General Hospital. Sarah's performance was widely hailed by critics and resulted in one of daytime TV's most memorable characters. In five years on General Hospital Sarah was nominated for four Emmy awards and won three. Since leaving General Hospital, Sarah has appeared on multiple hit television series and became a series regular on Cold Case. She followed Cold Case with a co-starring role in the blockbuster comedy "Big Mommas House" starring comedy legend Martin Lawrence. In 2008 Sarah returned to General Hospital in the newly created role of Claudia Zacchara for which she was nominated for another Emmy award. In 2015 Sarah was nominated for an Emmy for her staring role in the independent series "Beacon Hill." Sarah stars on the Emmy winning series, "Studio City," (2019) on Amazon Prime, for which she was nominated for an Emmy in 2021. Remarkably, this marked Sarah's seventh Emmy nomination. After two decades of acclaimed acting, Sarah began a transition into directing and editing in the summer of 2021 when she agreed to direct and co-edit ten episodes of a streaming audio drama from Violent Hour Media, the leading Horror Podcast network. The series is titled Red Ridding Hoods and will premiere across all audio platforms on October 11th, 2021.
Raised in Austin, TX, Sarah was never shy of the Arts. Her first love of performing was birthed at Ballet Austin Academy, where she had the opportunity to train for 8 years. In high school, Sarah found her love for musical theater as she starred in musicals such as Grease and Annie. Immediately following graduation, Sarah was accepted to study Acting for Film & Television at The American Musical & Dramatic Academy, in New York City. There, she discovered a new-found love of acting for camera. Upon graduating from AMDA, Sarah moved back to Texas to pursue her acting career, and has since starred in several feature films.
