Sanjay Khan
Abbas Khan was born on January 3, 1941 in Bangalore, India. His family has mixed Pathan and Iranian blood. He has 3 brothers Sameer, Feroz and Akbar. Feroz and Akbar are movie stars within their own rights, while Sameer assists the family-run Golden Palms Spa in Bangalore. He entered the silver screen during 1964 with a brief appearance in Haqeeqat, and then officially launched his career with the blockbuster 'Dosti' during 1964 leading to the birth of Sanjay Khan. He started acting in the Hindu-dominated film industry, and like Dilip Kumar and others chose a Hindu name of Sanjay to be seen as part of the mainstream. Sanjay went on to act in over 30 movies, most of them are well known and are popular even today. His career spanned from 1964 with Haqeeqat and went on 1986 with Kala Dhandha Gorey Log. Sanjay was especially popular with the women due to his handsome boyish looks, the kind that Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Rajendra Kumar, etc. had. He has a passion for sports cars, especially Cadillac and imported cars that he picked up from embassy disposals. He has always owned 3 to 4 cars at any given time. He is still unable to hold on to a car for more than a few months, and loves the smell of a new car. He got married to Zarine, a Parsi, and both eventually became parents of 3 daughters, Farha, Simone, Suzanne, and a son, noted film actor, Zayed Khan. While Zayed is married to Malika Parekh; Farha has married Aqeel; Simone is married to Ajay Arora; and Suzanne is married to Bollywood heart-throb, Hrithik Roshan. Apart from being a successful actor, he has also involved in writing the script of Kala Dandha Gorey Log; has produced & directed Abdullah; and was also involved in the production of Chandi Sona. His tryst in the acting and direction of The Sword of Tipu Sultan caused him burn injuries when a fire engulfed the Premier Studios in Mysore, and he ended up being hospitalized for several months. He is currently involved in the filming and production of Maryada Purshotam. He had earlier produced another mini-series Sanjay Khan's Mahabharat, based on the teachings of Bhagwad Geeta and depicting the battle between the forces of good and evil.

Sanjay Khanna's association with the celluloid began with assisting internationally renowned director Shekhar Kapur on the fantasy film, 'Mr. India' where he got to handle the entire shoot and pre to post-production of the film. As Shekhar Kapur got involved with 'Bandit Queen' he appointed Sanjay Khanna as a Director to complete 'Dushmani' Starring Sunny Deol & Manisha Koirala. Sanjay then went to be the COO for Shekhar Kapur's Quasar Films and the Associate Director for all the commercials produced and directed by him. The last commercial was 'Force One Suv' starring Amitabh Bachchan. With his first film 'Anth', ironically (in Hindi Anth translates to 'the end'), Sanjay Khanna began his first Directorial, starring Sunil Shetty, Somy Ali and Paresh Rawal. The film went on to be Silver Jubilee at the box office and also won the year's Filmfare Award for the 'Best Action Film'. Sanjay Khanna's next film was 'Shastra', most remembered for the song 'Kya Ada Kya Jalwe Tere Paro' which was a Chartbuster, that stayed on the top of charts for almost a year. This film marked the debut for today's successful singer Sunidhi Chauhan and writer Yunus Sejawal. He then directed an action-comedy 'Ittefaq' and a thriller 'Junoon'. Even as the Silver Screen has not enough of Sanjay Khanna, he went testing the still waters of the Small Screen. That is when he directed, For Sahara One - a psychological thriller 'Katputtli which was a tight budget film for digital theatres and overseas market. Sanjay ventured into Television and directed hundreds of episodes for various Channels like Star TV, Zee TV, Sony TV, Sahara One etc Also, for Sony TV, he did a Director's special show for Vikram Bhatt called 'Specials at 10: Shauhrat Nafrat Aur Showbiz' which is a story of an upcoming Bollywood actress and how she attains stardom. This mini-series was nominated for 'the best series' category at the Seoul Festival & won several TV Awards. Sanjay Khanna later joined Suniel Shetty's company Popcorn Entertainment as a Creative Director where he creatively executed all the films Produced by Popcorn Ent. and also shot songs for EMI starring Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Mallaika Arora Khan. He has even shot the action sequences for the movie 'Loot' that stars Govinda and Suniel Shetty. He then worked as a Creative Head for a Dubai Based Ad Agency Spectrum 7 where he did several International Advertising Films & Corporate Films.
