Born in a small town near Jaipur, Sohum shifted to Mumbai to make films. He started his own production house, Recyclewala Films, in order to make content-driven film. Its first film was the critically-acclaimed Ship of Theseus, in which he played the role of a socially incognizant stockbroker. He even won a National Award for Best Producer for this film. He was then offered the role of a cop in Talvar, based on the 2008 Noida double murder case. His role was much appreciated by the audience. He will next be seen in Simran, playing the love interest of National Award winning actress, Kangana Ranaut.
