Born to Margaret and James Gerrard in Manchester, UK, in 1967. His family moved to London when Paul was 8 months old; the youngest of 5 children, 3 half-sisters and 1 full sister. From early days, Paul mixed an avid participation in competitive sport with a passion for performing arts. He studied a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Sport at De Montford University UK, gaining a double first with hons, in 1993. During development of his acting training at The Court Theatre Company, London, in 1995, he played the title role in Agamemnon. This was followed by Paul Hickman in John Godber's autobiographical play Salt of the Earth and Antigonus/Florizel in The Winter's Tale. His theatre credits include: Creon, in Antigone, at the Crucible studio, UK; Robbie in Girl's Night Out, in a Number One National UK tour and on London's West End stage; The Tenant in an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Canterville Ghost, staged at The Theatre Royal, Bath, and Number One UK venues; and as a soldier in Sir Peter Hall's production of Julius Caesar at the RSC Barbican, London. Aside from his passion for theatre, Paul has over 2000 hours of live presenting credits, on UK national television. Other credits include Holby City for the BBC, and a range of characters in several award winning short-films.
