Jake Hays
Born and raised in southern California, Jake Hays is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, actor, VFX artist, producer, editor and big fan of all things creepy and spooky. He discovered a love for music at age thirteen with drums, eventually moving onto guitar, keyboards, singing and producing. Jake has written songs with Matt Sorum (Guns N'Roses, Velvet Revolver), Grammy Award winner Holly Knight (Aerosmith, Pat Benatar) and Cherie Currie (The Runaways) to name a few. Hays signed with BMG/Vagrant Records in 2015 with his project Maudlin Strangers, and toured the US and Canada multiple times over opening for acts like Bad Suns and Cold War Kids. Hays has also produced acts like Hunny (for their Windows I - EP) and Royaljag (for their debut Chameleon EP). In November 2018, while Hays was away in Texas filming the indie 80s-inspired action movie Night Run, he lost his home and recording studio in the Woolsey Fire. In the following months, he rebuilt a small recording setup and rented a studio lockout in Burbank, CA which would become his musical hideout in this period of readjustment. There, he began writing and recording as many songs as possible, including the debut single "Sleep Talk", which was the first song ever released under his birth name. Jake wrote and produced over 20 songs during that time, including the four that were chosen to be on his debut "Room 13" EP. His latest single "Sober" is available on all streaming platforms. Graduate of Norwich University in Northfield Vermont. Majored in Communications and played Football for the "Cadets." Jake burst onto the Hollywood scene in the 2000 hit film "Spring Break Lawyer" playing Ox, America's favorite "meathead." After the success of "First Monday" Jake earned the lead from director Mike Cargile to star in the award-winning film "Lay It Down" playing the movie's antagonist. The movie was a huge success domestically and internationally. After studying with The Groundlings and acting Coach Aaron Speiser, Jake guest starred on "Grounded for Life" with Donald Logue. Shortly after, Jake played a supporting role on the FOX Pilot "Blitt Happens", directed by Peter Farrelly. After much exploration and development as a character actor, Jake recently took his career in a new direction - a leading man. Being the lead in two plays, "A Bed and A Bar" and in the LA Times Critics Pic "Our Lady of 121 Street" by Stephen Adley Guirgis as "Balthazaar", Jake's film career took off. In 2009 Jake will open theaters as a leading man, with the release of "Buying Time" and the super-natural/horror "The Open Door". Jake also stars in Matteo Ribaudo's latest film "Silverlake Video the movie", opposite Sean King, Patricia Rae(The Big Wedding, MAria Full of Grace), Scott Krinsky(Chuck), and Mark Christopher Lawerence(Chuck, Halloween). Jake has been cast in other blockbusters like: "Spider-Man 3," "The Holiday" and "Finishing the Game."
