Emma Carr was born in Portsmouth, England on September 5th 1990 to British parents. In November 1995, Emma's family emigrated to New Zealand where she grew up with elder brother, Matthew. Shortly after her arrival in N.Z, Emma began singing and dance tuition and a love for Musical Theatre built. Emma Catalfamo was an accomplished, creative, and visually-oriented person with extensive artistic interests. She was a graduate of Concordia University's Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema; specifically the prestigious Specialization in Film Studies program. This allowed her to both study film in an academic context and apply this knowledge to filmmaking. She also studied an MA Filmmaking at the London Film School, which allowed her to hone in on the craft of filmmaking. With a deep interest in framing the world, naturally she liked to do so with both film and photography.
