Daniel Dickrell III grew up in Florida and attended the University of Florida where he majored in mechanical engineering. He received a BS, MS and PhD in the field. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM before being hired back as an engineer at the University of Florida in 2008. He teaches hundreds of students each semester, typically on camera, about engineering mechanics. It was through this familiarity with conveying information in front of a lens that he landed the opportunity to appear on the program Impossible Engineering in 2017. Since then he has gone on to appear on various educational and documentary show focusing on science and engineering.
