Branjae is the birth child of Classic Soul, Funk and R&B. With a culmination of lyrical depths, energetic theatrical performances and genre fluidity, her storytelling style comes as unique as the personas she embodies. Branjae's fearless and energetic showcase, encourages elevated consciousness by connecting with her audiences for the soul purpose of creating unity and harmony. Born in the city of Motown and rooted in the city of The Gap Band and Leon Russell, songwriter Branjae established herself as a full-bodied, triple entertainer. Singing, dancing, and acting her way into the hearts of concert audiences from Tulsa to New York City, from Atlanta to Chicago, and across the sea to England, Branjae has developed a tailing of followers. Her voice has been likened to the rasp of Lauryn Hill, the alto register of India Arie, and the soul of Nina Simone, while her stage presence heavily influenced by the leg work of Tina Turner, confidence of Michael Jackson, and the commanding presence of Freddie Mercury. Branjae has developed an abundance of experience as an entertainer. She's opened/shared the stage with Thundercat, Fishbone, Ohio Players, RC and the Grits (Erykah Badu's current band), Andy Frasco and the late Waymen Tisdale. She also co-fronts the loud, funky, socially opinionated band, Count Tutu, alongside songwriter and guitar player, Nathan Wright. This year Branjae is looking forward to her 3rd official SXSW showcase, and expanding her tour schedule across the nation. 2019 proved to be her biggest year yet, and included the largest expansion to her portfolio of work. AfroPunk debuted the Op-Ed to her project "Street Light '' and Billboard Magazine premiered the project's music video. In an effort to help elevate her activism, Tulsa non profits such as DVIS, Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture, and Circle Cinema, all collaborated as sponsors to present the video's exclusive screening to the Tulsa community. 2019 production collaborations included: "Circle Cinema Presents: 'Street Light' Gala", "Duet Jazz Club Presents: Branjae's NYE Extravaganza", & "SRO Presents: Branjae's Juke Joint Jive". Opportunities like panel speaking at the Oklahoma Film+Music Conference and a full feature on the Emmy Award winning series "Play It Loud", were both extraordinary experiences in the public speaking arena. She was even approached to collaborate on brand deals with local businesses The Flower Shop & Manna Molecular. All of the year's work concluded with 4 nominations at the Tulsa Music Awards (awards to be held April 11, 2020).
